The story behind the studio
Built from experience. Grounded in real life.
I’m Sara, the designer behind Hive & Co. I help small businesses, churches, and ministries turn scattered ideas into clear, useful design without making the process feel bigger or more complicated than it needs to be.
Thoughtful work, handled personally.
My path into design began with publications and marketing in the credit-union world, where I learned early that even good information can get lost when it is not presented clearly.
That work pushed me to keep learning, and eventually led me to complete a marketing and design certificate through Niagara University. From there, my experience expanded into work for established, multi-million-dollar companies, including trade shows, online marketing, websites, print materials, and the many little pieces that make a brand feel consistent.
I am grateful for that bigger-company experience because it taught me how to think beyond a single project. A website affects the brochure. The brochure affects the event display. The logo has to work everywhere. Good design is not a collection of pretty pieces; it is a system that helps people recognize, understand, and trust the work.
But the projects I kept caring about most were the ones where good design could help good work go farther.
For years, I continued helping churches, ministries, friends, and small businesses alongside my other work. Those projects were personal. They belonged to people who were serving their communities, building something from the ground up, stretching real budgets, and often doing more behind the scenes than anyone realized.
Hive & Co. grew naturally from that space. It brought more than fifteen years of marketing, web, graphic design, and print experience into a smaller studio where the work could remain thoughtful, affordable, direct, and genuinely useful.
The short version of a not-so-short road
Publications and marketing
Learning how to organize information, communicate clearly, and create materials people could actually use.
Niagara University
Formal marketing and design training that strengthened both the creative and strategic sides of the work.
Corporate brands and complex projects
Websites, trade shows, digital marketing, print, and coordinated brand materials for established companies.
Churches, ministries, and small businesses
Using everything I had learned to serve people whose work mattered deeply to them and to the people around them.
Why Hive & Co.?
The name came from the life behind the work.
As a wife, homeschooling mom of five, and someone balancing family, a small farm, ministry, client work, and the next hands-on project, our home has always felt a little like a busy hive.
There is usually a lot happening, everyone has a part to play, and worthwhile things are built through patience, cooperation, and steady effort. The name felt honest because it reflects both my real life and the way I believe good work gets done.
Hive & Co. is not pretending to be a giant agency. It is a small, capable studio where you know who is working on your project, where your questions are welcome, and where your work is never treated like a number in a queue.
Beyond the computer screen
The business is part of my life, not carefully separated from everything that gives the work meaning.
Faith, family, hard work, and treating people well shape how I run Hive & Co. They influence the promises I make, the honesty of my recommendations, and the care I give to work that someone else has trusted me to handle.
What you can expect
A few principles I do not set aside when things get busy.
A beautiful result matters, but so does the experience of getting there. These are the standards that guide both.
Listen before designing.
The goal is not to force your work into my favorite style. It is to understand what makes your work distinct and build from there.
Make it useful, not merely impressive.
Every design choice should help the right people understand, trust, remember, or respond to what you are offering.
Give honest guidance.
I will tell you when an idea needs refining, when a simpler option makes more sense, and when you do not need to spend money on something.
Stay after launch.
A finished project should not mean disappearing support. I remain available for hosting, updates, future pieces, and the questions that come later.
The work has included
One connected perspective across web, brand, print, and support.
That range matters because your customers do not experience your website, logo, signs, and printed pieces in isolation.
Websites & hosting
Purposeful WordPress websites, dependable hosting, maintenance, updates, and practical integrations.
Brand identity
Logos, visual direction, color systems, typography, and the tools needed to use the brand consistently.
Print & promotion
Business cards, brochures, signs, banners, event pieces, invitations, publications, yearbooks, and promotional materials.
Ongoing design support
A familiar creative partner who already understands the organization, the audience, and the work behind the next request.
Bring the idea, the problem, or the scattered pieces. We can sort through what makes sense, what can wait, and what will help your work move forward.
